John Oates is cofounder of the iconic music creators Hall & Oates and an accomplished solo artist. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The American Songwriters Hall of Fame, recipient of the prestigious BMI Icon Award as well as numerous American Music, MTV awards, and multiple Grammy nominations.

At the Newtown concert, Oates will perform a mix of his solo material, some covers, and a handful of Hall & Oates’ mega hits. Oates will be part of a four-piece band that includes him on acoustic guitar/vocals, percussion/backing vocals, cello, and electric guitar/pedal steel.

Performing million-seller hits from the past and new songs framed with the back stories of how they were written, Oates will take you on an intimate sonic journey that’s been described as “Musically sophisticated, carefully crafted, and thoroughly entertaining.” This is music as it was meant to be enjoyed…authentic, organic, and full of surprises.

TICKET POLICIES

  • You can present a hard copy or mobile (phone) version of your ticket.

  • Newtown Theatre members may not purchase tickets for non-members. Those presenting member tickets will have membership verified at the door.

  • All ticket sales are final. Refunds or ticket exchanges will not be offered.

  • Can’t find your tickets? First check your junk or spam folder for an email from “Ticketbud Orders.” If you don't see your tickets, retrieve them here. After trying both of these things, please contact us.

CONCERT DETAILS

  • Doors open at 7 PM and the concert starts at 8 PM.

  • Seating is first come, first served.

  • Beer, wine and canned cocktails will be available for purchase before and during the show. 

  • Free parking is available along North State Street, in the municipal lot between Washington and Centre Avenue, and in the municipal lot next to Newtown Borough Hall (23 North State Street).

  • We have a wheelchair lift on our front porch and an accessible restroom on the first floor. There are no steps to climb to access the first floor of the auditorium. There are steps to the balcony.


Since forming his creative partnership with Daryl Hall in the early 1970s, they have gone on to record 21 albums, which have sold over 80 million units, making them the most successful duo in rock history. They have scored 10 number one records, over 20 Top 40 hits, and have toured the world for decades.

Since embarking on a solo career in 1999, Oates has recorded seven solo albums. In addition, his 2017 autobiography, “Change of Season,” became an Amazon bestseller. 

In 2023 he released a series of new original digital singles distributed by “The Orchard” in a wide variety of eclectic styles as well as penning another series of songs for the feature film “Gringa.” His most recent recording project is titled “Folk-esque” and was released in 2024. He is currently performing an intimate series of solo acoustic shows called an “Evening of Songs and Stories” in America and around the world.
