Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not answered here, please contact us. Phone calls are not answered by our staff, and we do not check voicemail as often as we check email.
Seating, Tickets, and Discounts
-
The answer depends on whether the ticket is General Admission or for Newtown Theatre Members.
Guests purchasing General Admission tickets may not request a refund or exchange of those tickets. There are no exceptions to this policy, including forecasted bad weather, illness, or purchasing tickets for a date or time you didn’t intend.
For example, if you purchased General Admission tickets for a 3:00 PM show, we must unfortunately deny all requests to switch those tickets to the 8:00 PM show on the same date. Please double-check the show time before you purchase tickets!
Guests with an active theatre membership at the time of their ticket purchase may contact us to request a refund or exchange their member-level tickets for another show. The request must be received at least 48 hours before the starting time of the event.
Newtown Theatre members who purchase General Admission tickets for others may not request refunds or exchanges of those General Admission tickets on their behalf.
-
The theatre’s ticketing platform is Ticketbud. First, search your email (including your spam folder) for an email from Ticketbud. You can also go to this Ticketbud page and enter your email to retrieve your tickets. This only works if you typed in the correct email address when buying tickets.
If all else fails, we can always check you in by your name at the door on the night of the event.
-
Except for select movies, we do not sell tickets at the box office and we do not sell tickets over the phone. Most of our tickets need to be purchased on our website.
The exception is if a show is NOT sold out. In that case we will sell tickets at the box office right before the show.
-
All Newtown Theatre events are general admission. That means seating is first come, first served (it doesn’t mean you have to stand).
Note that Newtown Arts Company allows you to pick specific seats for their shows. Those are the only shows at the theatre with assigned seating.
-
We cannot reserve seats. For most live events, doors open an hour before showtime. If you are coming with a large group and wish to sit together it’s best to come early. Alternatively, you can send a person or two ahead of the group to hold seats.
-
We’re pleased to say that none of our seats are obstructed by a column or other structure. Whether you’re in the ground level auditorium or the balcony, you’ll have a great line of sight to the stage!
-
We do not offer a senior, military, or group discount for most events. The only exception is films will offer a discounted price for seniors and students. If a discount is available, that will be described on the event page.
-
If you think you were double billed for tickets, please contact the theatre first to resolve the issue. Please do not contact your bank or Ticketbud (TicketBud will often just refund/cancel all of your tickets, leaving you with no tickets to the show you want to see). The best way to reach us is through the contact us page.
-
No! Unless you personally know the person, do not trust anyone who says they are selling Newtown Theatre tickets, especially if they want you to pay for the tickets via PayPal, Venmo, etc. The Newtown Theatre is not responsible if your tickets are fake or if your tickets were sold multiple times.
Our Facility
-
The Newtown Theatre has existed long before cars, so the building has no parking lot and no designated accessible parking spots. Free parking is available in these locations:
Street parking along North State Street and surrounding Borough streets
The municipal lot between Washington Avenue and Centre Avenue
The municipal lot next to Newtown Borough Hall (23 North State Street)
-
Yes, we have a wheelchair lift out front and a first-floor accessible restroom. Once inside, there are no steps to climb to access the first floor of our auditorium. There are steps to the balcony, however. Note that we also do not have a parking lot or designated accessible parking spots.
Patrons who cannot walk long distances can be dropped off in front of the theatre. The “yellow curb” in front of the theatre is for drop-off, not parking.
Since our events are all general admission seating, we ask that patrons in wheelchairs or who need assistance contact us at least two days prior to an event they will be attending. This will help us prepare for your arrival and ensure that you can best be accommodated.
For more information, visit our accessibility page.
-
Sorry, outside food or drink is not permitted. We do have a concession stand with popcorn, candy and soda and a bar with beer, wine and canned cocktails.
-
The Newtown Theatre allows patrons to enjoy their concert experience as they feel comfortable (as long as they are at their seats). Although we ask patrons to be mindful of those who are also enjoying a concert, theatre staff will not tell someone who is dancing/standing at their seat to sit down.
With that being said, please keep talking to a minimum during performances. The theatre is not a bar. If you wish to have a conversation with your friends, please exit the auditorium and chat in the lobby/outside the theatre. The patrons around you paid to hear the artists on stage, not your conversation.
Theatre staff will ask any patron to leave the theatre who continues to disrupt the atmosphere of the concert with disruptive conversation.
